Surgery changes the body.
Recovery Determines the Outcome
Clinically informed pre & post operative care that supports tissue healing, restores function, and helps patients move forward with clarity and confidence.
Surgery is clinical.
Recovery is human.
At Post-Op Therapy, we believe the experience between surgery and strength matters just as much as the procedure itself.
Technical precision, anatomical respect, and surgical collaboration form the foundation of our work. But healing also requires calm, clarity, and trust.
We approach recovery with the same level of attentiveness found in the world’s best hospitality environments — anticipating needs, reducing fear before it escalates, and creating an environment where patients feel supported rather than managed.
Because when the nervous system feels safe, the body responds.
What Sets Us Apart
Clinically Grounded Care, Built on Experience and Collaboration
Post-operative recovery is not an afterthought. It is a critical phase of care.
Since 1998, our practice has worked in close collaboration with physicians and surgical teams to support tissue healing, reduce complications, and guide recovery with precision and restraint. We regularly observe surgical procedures, giving us direct insight into technique, tissue handling, and realistic healing timelines.
We understand what happens in the operating room — and how those decisions influence recovery weeks and months later.
Our care is informed, coordinated, and aligned with each patient’s surgical plan. Not trend-based. Not spa-driven. Clinically grounded.
Operating Room Insight
Our team observes surgical procedures across specialties to deepen our understanding of anatomy, technique, and healing variables. This allows us to guide recovery decisions with accuracy and respect for surgical intent.
- Recovery pacing based on tissue response
- Early recognition of atypical healing patterns
- Clear communication with surgical teams
- Care that supports — not interferes with — surgical outcomes

Recovery is MORE than physical
Healing after surgery or trauma can feel uncertain.
- Swelling that doesn’t make sense.
- Scars that feel tight or unfamiliar.
- Setbacks that create doubt.
Patients often ask:
- “Is this normal?”
- “Am I healing correctly?”
- “Why does this feel different than I expected?”
We help answer those questions.
Our work supports the body’s physiology — but also the person navigating change. Recovery is not just tissue repair. It is adaptation, reassurance, pacing, and understanding what is happening beneath the surface.
ABOUT OUR PRACTICE
Expert Recovery Care Across Complex Healing Journeys
We specialize in therapeutic care for individuals navigating complex recovery — whether healing from surgery, cancer treatment, childbirth, orthopedic injury, or physical trauma.
Our focus is restoring function, reducing complications, supporting lymphatic health, and the body’s natural healing process through evidence-based lymphatic drainage and targeted scar tissue management.
Est. 1998
With operating room exposure and nearly 30 years of clinical practice, we understand how different forms of trauma — surgical and non-surgical — impact the body long after the initial event.
Our approach is deliberate, individualized, and responsive to each stage of healing.

I received treatment from Rosa for several weeks post surgery to aid in reducing scar tissue. The treatment I received worked and I learned that the timeliness post surgery to reduce hard tissue is imperative. Rosa did the necessary work to ensure I was successful. Their office is centrally located and very clean, inviting and relaxing. Thank you Rosa.Posted on Liz ParkerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Shelby and Rosa are true professional healers. They improved the healing process of my post op therapy greatly. They are knowledgeable experts on scar tissue and are able to provide extensive support resources for anyone looking to improve their recovery and healing post surgery. Their friendly upbeat approach makes a challenging recovery bearable and helps you stay optimistic and positive about the outcomes of your surgery. Will miss working with you both greatly and highly recommend to those looking for post op therapies.Posted on Dennis DunphyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a grade 2 mcl tear in my left knee. Shelby’s lymphatic work was integral in my rehabilitation. The decrease in the swelling from her treatment was significant from the very first session. This allowed me to access an increased range of motion in the joint which in turn sped up my rehab. I highly recommend Post Op Therapy for anyone who needs effective lymphatic drainage.Posted on Sue RhinehartTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I HIGHLY recommend Post-op Therapy! Shelby and Rosa truly care about you and your post-surgery journey. Shelby kept in contact with me prior to my surgery giving me so much helpful advice. Rosa was with me the day of my surgery and then she did all of my post-surgery lymphatic massages and scar therapy. I think my easy healing and end results are far better because of the scar therapy I received. If I ever have another major surgery, I will definitely come back to them.Posted on Chelsey Walden-SchreinerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Do yourself a favor and book here, you'll be so glad you did! I was referred by my surgeon to the amazing staff--Rosa and Shelby--at Post Op Therapy. Having not heard much about lymphatic drainage and scar tissue therapy prior to my surgery, I wasn't quite sure what to expect nor did I know if it was something I wanted to do. However Rosa was so knowledgeable, explaining all of my options and what I could reasonably expect. I never felt pressured or oversold, just educated and comfortable. I am so, so glad I went through with treatment. After just the first session, I could tell a difference in the level of post-op swelling. I had shuffled into the appointment due to leg pain from the swelling and was able to more readily walk out! After working with Rosa for a few months, I am pleased to say I am astonished with the results. My swelling went down quickly, scar flattened out, and the scar tissue significantly reduced to the point I can longer feel or see it. It was definitely worth the investment in my recovery - both physically and emotionally. The sessions in their relaxing their spa-like office and Rosa's commitment to making sure you're comfortable--explaining what she is doing and why--makes it feel like the time goes quickly. Highly, highly recommend Post Op Therapy!Posted on Arushi BallalTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Shelby & Rosa have been absolutely wonderful! I have seen Shelby for my recovery from 2 surgeries & more recently Rosa as well. They are both always super kind and understanding of whatever you need through recovery and I can honestly say they are the absolute best at working on scar tissue! I have gotten my full range of motion back after both surgeries and although I definitely had to trust the process they made it easy to be confident that I would be ok! They are also both so easy to talk to and even though scar work can be painful I always look forward to our sessions.Posted on Leslie RubinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I've come back to Shelby and the team at Post Op Therapy multiple times. Shelby's expertise and technique in working on post-surgery scar tissue have improved my recovery and provided a better result. I can't say enough good things about how well her "healing hands" have helped with elective and necessary surgery. The earlier I saw her post-surgery, the better my results. I wish more doctors would discuss and recommend this post-op care as part of the process. She can help with reducing swelling, lymphatic drainage (not massage), and smoothing scar tissue before it's too late.Posted on Kelly McHenryTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Working with Shelby and Rosa @ Post Op therapy has been such a wonderful experience!! Not only have I seen amazing results but, my range of motion in my head and neck are so much better. I’m even sleeping better. It truly has been one of the best investments I have made in myself and my health EVER!!Posted on Allison GonzalesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Skeptical about post-op/scar tissue therapy because your doctor didn't mention or know about it? That was me, in 2023, when a friend of a friend reached out to share her story and encourage me to schedule post op care for scar tissue therapy with Shelby. Her surgeon had recommended Shelby O'Hara for scar tissue therapy following her own procedure -- she said it was the BEST investment she could have made in herself next to the surgery itself. Simply put, she asked if I had ever seen that one actress's [will not name] unsightly ripples on her abdomen in bikini shots post her infamous liposuction in the 90's. Of course I had, and we both had a cringe moment. Well, that's why you need scar tissue therapy specifically to break that all up, lymphatic drainage alone won't do and in fact, that's temporary, she explained. I had explant surgery, as well as hernia and diastasis repair, etc. Now looking back, I have the first-hand experience to know that it's because of Shelby's technique that my skin and tissues are supple, smooth, free-range of movement, healed spectacularly, and she even smoothed problematic incision points of dimpling and thickening of scars that I complained about. Once she started working on me, I could tell for myself when things were tightening and areas that needed attention for follow-up appts as I continued to heal. Leaving the office, I always felt immediately better, looser, and sleeping better, than the days leading up to my session. I had a recent mammogram and the nurse commented "Wow, you can barely see your scars at all, they look amazing!" -- that coming from a woman who sees thousands of breasts made me appreciative of the investment I made in myself. Of course, I had a meticulous surgeon as well. One thought I'll leave with you is to plan for post op therapy cost, as many surgeons won't mention it because they don't know about it, and if they do, they may under-estimate costs -- Each individual's recovery and post-op care is individualized, but you'll start to notice yourself when you're nearing completion. Shelby is the most patient human being, with incredible bedside manner. You will feel right at home and can feel comfortable asking any and all questions - in fact, she encourages it!Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
